Headteacher Update

An update from Mr Seviour.

Parent Survey

Thank you if you were able to complete the recent parent survey sent out on behalf of The Oak Partnership Trust. We are thrilled to see that our school remains highly regarded by our parent community. Here are some highlights:

Of the responses received:

  • 100% Agreed / Strongly Agreed that their child is happy at our school
  • 100% Agreed / Strongly Agreed that their child feels safe at our school
  • 100% Agreed / Strongly Agreed that our school upholds high standards of pupil behaviour
  • 100% Agreed / Strongly Agreed that the school has high expectations for their child
  • 100% would recommend our school to another parent

These results are exceptional. I recognise that this only reflects a proportion of our parent community, and not all parents opted to complete the survey. Of course there remains work to do to ensure we are getting it right for every child and family. I remain committed, alongside my colleagues, in continuing to work towards our collective vision:

The Local School Committee will next consider how we can ensure we seek and act upon the views of as many of our school community as possible.

Harvest

Thank you for your kind donations of non-perishable goods before half-term; these were collected today by Taunton Foodbank.

Library Update

Following on from the preparation work over the summer holidays, we were very excited at the arrival of our new library furniture this week. Books are currently coming out of storage and being sorted into the new units. We look forward to finishing this project and inviting you in for a look! Thank you for your continued support of our school charity, the Friends of Blackbrook School, as the funds raised from events organised by the group have been used to fund the furniture. It is looking wonderful already. Take a look at a recent post on Class Dojo.

Years 1 to 6 will be visiting the library in Taunton this term. This could be a good opportunity to promote an interest in reading with your child.

Raffle Tickets

A reminder to please continue selling your raffle tickets and returning these to the school office. There are plenty of books to give out, so do come and collect more if you need them.

School Tours for Prospective Parents

The Year 6 children did a wonderful job this week giving tours to prospective reception parents as part of an open morning. It was excellent to see the children confidently taking our visitors around the school and explaining what happens in our school. Well done Year 6!
