Communication

All letters and updates are posted on the News and Updates page.

How we Communicate with Parents

There are several ways in which we communicate with parents at Blackbrook School. These are our main communication channels for sharing information. We aim to respond to communications as quickly as possible. If you do not receive a response within two working days, please inform the school office.

Email

We use email as a primary way of communicating with parents. Email messages and digital letters are sent via the school office. Parents can also email the school office: office@blackbrook.oak.education. Emails are sent and reviewed during the school day.

Phone

It is sometimes appropriate to phone parents. To speak to the office over the phone, please call 01823 338138.

In-Person

We are a friendly bunch! Members of school staff, including a member of the Senior Leadership Team, are at the playground gates in the morning. Parents can also speak with class teachers at the end of the day. It may be appropriate to arrange a meeting to discuss certain matters at length. All parents have two formal opportunities to meet with their child's class teacher to talk about their academic progress and general wellbeing.

Class Dojo

Available to download for free on your phone's App Store, the Class Dojo app is a useful way for parents and teachers to send messages to each other. Parents should not use this for urgent or time-sensitive messages, as teachers will review messages informally outside of teaching hours.

Updating Contact Information

To aid effective communication, and ensure children are appropriately safeguarded, it is important that we have up-to-date contact information for parents and other nominated adults in the event we are unable to contact you in an emergency. The easiest way to update your contact information is through the Arbor application. For more information about Arbor, click here.
